search in 11.10 and compiz compatibility

SO i just installed 10.10 because of seeing that many people were having trouble with compiz and 11.10. Compiz is one of the main reasons i wanted to get ubuntu and I just want to know if there is some place I can see when compiz is able to be used on 11.10...or do I just have to wait until the next new version until I upgrade?

Also the search funtion is really cool in 11.10 and if i don;t want to install 11.10 yet, is there a way to have that search functionality on the desktop like in the newest version?

I don't quite understand what your problem is. However, if you want 11.10, why not install it?

If you are concerned that it may not work on your machine, create a Live CD (or, preferably, a Live USB) and try it out without installing; instructions are on the download page (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download). You will quickly see whether or not it works.

Alternatively, you can wait for the next LTS version, 12.04, which is due in April.
