When I first installed ubuntu I had a nice boot splash and things worked great and boot up and login was pretty quick. I then installed fglrx and boot up and login was still pretty quick but boot splash was messed up. Now I have since removed fglrx and gone back to radeon but boot splash is still messed up and boot and login times seem to have slowed down.

How can I restore my boot up and login speeds and splash?

Thanks
