good link.

thankfully it just has 'linux', no different distro's otherwise that might have been a problem.

unusually apple popularity is tiny in comparison to MS and linux, presumably all the apple users are drinking cocktails in soho or hackney clubs, hipster brooklyn bars or independent cafes in san francisco or santacruz, or elsewise doing something other than checking out tech sites, and so haven't voted.

(is that what apple types do? i really have no idea, apologies to the linux friendly community of SF, SC, NYC and London).

Not reflective of true use, but at least it indicates OS-aware prevalences.

I didn't vote, since it says "Linux's Country Ranch", and I like Linux, but I do not live on a ranch.:lolflag:

ah yes, but if you wanted opinions about knee surgery you'd ask a surgeon, if you want financial advice you ask bankers (until recently). it's always possible that the value of OS-aware voters might be appreciated by anyone else looking at the thread.

Blimey - :D

Linux was at 35% when this thread started - now it's up to 43%

interesting

but does not explain what wealth is and how it is generated

but there again certain companies need a lesson in history " start with year 0 up to the Roman Empire"

don't think much has changed in terms of the overall outlook.

PS: did vote , guess the vote, I am mean in certain areas , but not when it comes to those that rely on earning a living. I am against the prevention or by "METHOD OF" under the rule of wealth , to those who want to succeed in life.

Tech Republic sucks, but I voted anyway.

I voted for Windows just so you know, if they allowed multi-choice I'd put in a vote for Linux also.

Not that it means very much anyway -

Just another erroneous poll much the same as some of the polls in these forums - :)

Well it will soon be finished as the 1000 people using computers have almost all voted already...

Ehh....what?

just that it has the windows banner on the page , did not included one of these

cropped‑linux_banner1.jpg (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://ricktech.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/cropped-linux_banner1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://ricktech.wordpress.com/2010/11/26/things-to-do-after-a-fresh-ubuntu-linux-install/&h=160&w=904&sz=29&tbnid=Jh4j6IL-OSO_KM:&tbnh=21&tbnw=120&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dlinux%2Bbanner%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=linux+banner&docid=8GdYxbWkas12yM&hl=en&sa=X&ei=Mte9ToC3HoGg8QOZ17SgBA&sqi=2&ved=0CE8Q9QEwBw&dur=4302) :P

also look at

Then there’s Windows (http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/window-on-windows), :( which is a bit like living in the suburbs. It’s the “American way.” In some ways, you have the best of both worlds — and in other ways, you have the worst

just food for thought to other readers :P

How is this poll even remotely accurate or relevant? The whole point of the article is that Microsoft shouldn't try to control hardware vendors. A much higher percentage of Linux users are going to read and support an article like this than your average article.

Of course the Linux numbers are going to look big. That's like somebody writing an in depth, detailed report about the latest findings in cold fusion and being surprised that most of the people who read the report are scientists. So just because of that, most people in the world must be scientists.
