Interesting Link. Thanks.

Reason 11
Isn't it our DUTY to fatten the proprietary Corporations? Use Linux/ Ubuntu and you miss out your opportunity for compassionate philanthropy. How then the altruists who live within the 'Gates' with 'Jobs' would be able to help the needy? Why then, use free OS like linux?

Am I noticing a slightly sarcastic tone of the author who swears by Windows and looks towards Linux with envious eyes?? Naahh..... probably not!

I like fantab's idea by adding to the list. (see post # 3)

So who can add with 12? Will we make it to 1 thousand?

This article is hilarious.

Here are my thoughts on the 10 reasons not to use Ubuntu that are mentioned in the article:

1. You don't try before you buy:
This is one of the things I like about Linux.

2. Installation of software is to easy:
This is a good thing for newbies.

3. Too few viruses/Too much security:
Who wants Viruses? Besides, you can never have too much security.

4. No expensive office suites:
Who wants to pay $100+ for Microsoft Office when they can get LibreOffice for free.
Besides, LibreOffice is superior to Microsoft Office.

5. Optional purchase option:
Purchasing should be optional. If you want to pay for an OS, Get Redhat Enterprise Linux, because it is superior to Windows, and the free Linux distros are superior too.
Besides, the Activation requirement for Windows and Office is one of the reasons why I hate Microsoft.

6. Too many free applications to choose from:
This is a good thing. For example, why pay $800+ for Adobe CS5 when I can get GIMP and Inkscape for free. Also, the Adobe products are less stable and contain more bugs.

7. Too well documented:
This is a good thing. Why would somebody want limited and difficult to use/understand documentation?

8. Excellent free tech support:
This is a good thing. Microsoft's tech support is notoriously bad, which is not good.

9. Too many interface choices:
I think this is the only valid point in the entire article, but it is good to have choice. Windows and OSX only give you one User interface.

10. Too much Eye candy:
Windows comes with too much "eye candy" by default. With Linux, you can choose how much or how little eye candy you want.

I know this article was writen 4 years ago, but The stuff I said is still true.

No expensive office suites is a good thing, actually. What if you can't or don't want to spend over $400 on MS Office? :)

In addition, you CAN run it in live mode to try it out.

And basically no viruses/really good built-in security: WOO-HOO! X3 Don't gotta worry 'bout malware or viruses and such!
