11.10 Upgrade failure

G'Day; I tried several times to upgrade from 11.04 to 11.10 but towards the end of the download I get this error message ;

W:Failed to fetch gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/archive.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_oneiric_main_sourc e_Sources Hash Sum mismatch
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Has anyone any idea why this is happening ???? :confused:

try this

open a terminal and enter

sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf

sudo apt-get update

this command will attempt to remove any corrupted list
