I'm having issues with USB flash drives/sticks and 11.10. I had a prior 10.04 LTS build which didn't seem to have this issue.

I purchased a LaCie fastkey usb3.0 ssd drive and attempted to use it with my system to no avail. The disk manager shows it, without a partition, without any information, as /dev/sdc (all fine), but any attempt to format it or use it results in failure. I then got curious and attempted to use one of my old imation 512mb flash drives, it too didn't show up; and I know for sure this did operate in my old environment.

OS: 11.10 amd64 3.0.0-12
Device: http://www.lacie.com/us/products/product.htm?id=10533
Device: Imation 512mb flash drive

I've attempted both USB2.0 and USB3.0 ports on my system, front and back, and through a USB hub.

Motherboard: Intel DH61BE

It should be noted that the 512mb flash drive has a FAT file system and I have put files on this before - infact I just put files on it to flash the BIOS to ensure it wasn't a BIOS related issue - it is not (I had to use another system to put the files on it).

Assistance would be appreciated in debugging this.
