View Full Version : [ubuntu] Issues with Costomizing Unity Desktop.

I'm working with the Unity desktop under Ubunt 11.10,
giving it a second try and feeling less discomfort,
even sensing some pleasure; I really like the way Unity
handles the File, Edit, ... menu.

I would like to be able to resize the launcher's icons so all icons there
fit in a single columns near the top.
The instructions I tried before did not work for me; those instructions involved
CompizConfig Settings Manager>Ubuntu Unity Plug-in>Experimental.

I switch worspaces a lot and I wonder if the launcher is my only option for doing so.
I can't seem to change the location of the workspace switcher icon the way I change the
location of otehr launcher icons. I wish I could mover it closer to the top of the launcher then I would not not have to scroll down to use it.

I had to install U11.10 a second time (for a reason not important here) and I could be
confusing Unity with another desktop, but I can't fined the Gadget app, either installed
or listed in the software center. How can I access those Gadgets?

Lastly, would you please provide a url or reference for the first thing to read on customizing Unity. (My old book on U8.04, except for its stuff on bash, does not help anymore.)

Many thanks and regards - Randy
