Ubuntu 11.1 - want to upgrade only critical stuff

I only want to upgrade drivers, security updates and stuff like that. I do not want to update libre office and such. How do i do selective updating. The sudo-apt get upgrades everything.

If you know witch packages you don´t want to update go to the synaptic and mark those packages and ( I´m not at ubuntu machine right ) under package tab find lock version.Now,marked packages will not be upgraded.
