I have upgraded from Kubuntu 11.04 to 11.10. Because there were problems with Plymouth bootsplash, I have previously used this method (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Fix-the-Big-and-Ugly-Plymouth-Logo-in-Ubuntu-10-04-140810.shtml) to fix it. After upgrading, I can see Kubuntu logo only during shutdown, not during startup (between GRUB and KDM login screen).
Any help would be appreciated.

You could give this a try , it worked well for me on 11.04 . I have not tested the script on 11.10 yet .According to the scripts creator this still works for some . I get a purple screen for briefly before log . which doesn't bother me .
