Log to classic shell,
Just use alt + right-click to configure the panels like gnome 2.3

Good Job. And if you want a LOT more panel space you can install tint2 & add it to startups. Panel top & bottom (sorta like Gnome 2 :idea:) I can get about 17 open windows/apps on the bottom panel on a 22" monitor if I want to.
