The question was about discussions about religion that is directly related to free and open source issues.

I believe that a level headed discussion on religion directly related to free and open source issues could be possible. There might not be complete belief in, say, a discussion about the church of emacs, But an explanation of beliefs and thoughts could be civilly discussed. Such as there is highlights to ed, pico, vi and emacs. Religion is belief in something as much as choosing Ubuntu over MS-Windows over Apple's Mac is belief in one system being better than others.(or maybe just better in somethings) It isn't always black and white.

Choosing the Church of Emacs was just an example. A very relevant question if some random religion started preaching the holiness of open source.

Level-headed discussions are probably OK, but discussions on "religion" (even the religion of technological preference) is usually discouraged here because what doesn't get moved to "Recurring discussions" gets closed rather quickly when the discussions get rather heated and stupid.
