In the UK we have zebra crossings. Pelican crossings too, but I don't really know the difference. One lot have lights, the other don't, or something.

What have you got where you live?

I know a chap called Zebra. He's not cross at all, in fact he's rather affable.

Moose are a massive problem in this part of Canada. There are moose-crossing signs all over the roads. Netting is now being placed around the roadside to deter some of them.

Bloody moose were introduced to this island as a food source. Now, hundreds of people crash into them every year on highways. Thousands of them everywhere.

ha, interesting. I never knew about the puffin, toucan and pegasus crossings.

ps, for anyone who doesn't know, or hasn't filled up their trivia quota for the day: ASUS, was founded by a couple of guys who used to work for Acer and wanted to call their company Pegasus, but called it Asus as an abbreviation (presumably so it would start with an A).

Here you go. This was a common sight in the UK more than 100 years ago'.

That's kind of weird. Where I live, the deer crossing crossing signs are actually for deer and not human pedestrians.

That's kind of weird.

Only if you expect zebras to be crossing. :) They're called zebra crossings because of the alternate dark and light stripes in the road.

I believe you have them in the States but call them "crosswalks" which makes more sense but is more prosaic.

The link above has a pic of the Abbey Road zebra crossing made famous by the Beatles. Just a busy and otherwise undistinguished crossing, but tourists seem to like it.
