Image Viewer starts loading then quits... always *something* with Ubuntu!

Please tell me why Ubuntu Image Viewer in 11.10 x64 keeps quitting even before it opens? There's always something with Ubuntu - something that they haven't quite fixed (and will likely take months or years to fix, if ever!).

Desktop dominance? Not likely for millennia, if ever.
