no sound is harsh

Hello,
I've for some reason lost all Sound in Linux. I rebooted into windows where i have no issues with sound. I'm running a sound blaster audigy. ubuntu 11.11.

Are you sure your running 11.11 or do you mean 11.10? Also are you using a printer with the sound card? if so are they both using irq5. This use to be a problem years ago, don't know if it's still is.

you are correct it is 11.10 but how do i change the irq. i would assume that the printer need to be moved as the audio should take precedence.

according to alsamixer the sound card is on irq 21
