Hi,

my ubuntu 11.10 on hp compaq nc8430 froze after opening a PDF file and after half an hour of no response I turned it off via the on button. I had a libreoffice writer document open and now it won't recover as it usually does. I removed the lock file but still nothing.

The problem is, that the document was a school paper and even with most recent backup I still lose about 2 days of work. Is there anything I can do?

thank you.

regards

Sounds strange to don't save a document for such time. Now go to Home and ctrl-H to see the hidden folders. Go to .libreoffice and dig to find temp. If you are lucky it's there.

It's not there and the corrupted file has 0 bytes. I've been saving all the time it's just when everything crashed, all was gone. Well I've restored the file from the last backup on my external drive and I am going to rewrite everything.
The worst crisis is over, I am feeling a bit better:)

And now I've checked the backup option in office as well.

thx and regards
