View Full Version : [ubuntu] HP OfficeJet 4500/HPLIP problem - can't scan to laptop

November 5th, 2011, 05:14 PM
So I've been trying for most of the week to get my OfficeJet 4500 set up on my wireless network using HPLIP. I have tried doing this both from the Synaptec Package and from the installation package found on the HPLIP site.

I've been in a back and forth with one of their techs on their launchpad site, but I'm beginning to suspect that he's just swinging a battle axe where a scalpel is needed...

Details: Ubuntu 10.04 in dual boot with Vista - fresh installs of both OSs this week; printer is fully functional in Vista (they finally win one) - installed HPLIP and the printer is detected in the HP Device Manager and reads as idle. The device has no available actions and I cannot scan anything to the laptop as the printer can't "see" the laptop.

The launchpad thread is here: https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/177146

The current hp-check -t output says that there are no errors or warnings.
