All work and no play...

... anyway, I would like to know what your top 3 games are for linux (excluding ports) - only PURE linux.

If you have a url, that would be cool too.

I have clocked up thousands of hours on Windows games and frankly, I am bored. Spending too many hours playing games isn't healthy.

Are linux games short and sweet as I imagine or are there epic games too?

I want to know what the linux games are and where better than here, and whom better than this great community to ask!

:)

I'd add some titles but I am too new to linux to know any.

Thanks.

Planet Penguin racer is something I always install after installing Ubuntu. Mostly to test if my 3D graphics acceleration is working properly, but also because it's pretty fun.

Neverball is great fun if you like super monkey ball style games.

Number 3 would be one of games I never get around to playing but which happen to look very good like Stratagus and Freeciv.

Bzflag is great, but boy does it have a nasty little steep learning curve!!! There is a small sub-culture to this game with several different styles of play; unfortunately to the beginner, they all look the same, i.e. you just keep getting killed.

I really like netpanzer, but unfortunately the game is still some what unstable and crashes at irregular intervals; this is really annoying.

I also like freeciv; another way to kill many hours.

Check this out:
http://doc.gwos.org/index.php/Native_Games

I compiled Warzone2100 the other day, which is a nice strategical game.
Download (http://developer.berlios.de/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2909)
Cheats (http://warzone2100.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/cheats.shtml), you'll need these to get past level 3, nothing happens otherwise.
The missions (http://warzone2100.strategyplanet.gamespy.com/walk.shtml), may come in handy as the movies in between are missing.
