Hi to all, simply question:
Xubuntu 11.10
Default theme greybird = Everything OK
Now, try change to some other theme, and see how poor look "Evince" app...
The only theme that perfectly and totally fit this app is greybird, any other theme will not apply to this app.
There are some other apps that "not receive" other themes than greybird,
but at the moment i don't remember what are...

Thanks to all in advance!

Hi. Welcome to the forums. :D

You've run into the gtk2/3 problem. You can install a few more themes from the repository (gnome-themes-standard gives you adwaita and light-themes gives you ambiance and radiance). There are more: http://gnome-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=167

I recommend Clearwaita (http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Clearwaita?content=145210). That one looks nice to my mind.

Thank you very much gsmanners!

So, the problem is that i must use a GTK3 theme for having all the apps looking good?
If i use a GTK2 theme some (GTK3) apps will look ugly because the theme was not designed for it?
Have understand correctly your reply?

Thank you again and SORRY for my bad english!

That is correct. What you need is a theme that supports both gtk2 and gtk3.

Many thanks again, your replies was clearly exhaustive.

Any other good (GTK2-3) themes? I have used the beautiful Equinox with Faenza but now...

Zukitwo is a very nice theme. I also recommend Borderline, Hope, and Ambiance Blue. These themes are all still very new and in active development, so just keep checking the gnome-look site.

That partly answers my problem also. I am a gnome 3 refugee having used Fedora from core 1 to 14 but decided to try xubuntu due to Fedora 14 EOL once Fedora 16 is out.

Is it possible to theme kde apps to try and match the gtk themes without a full kde base installed. I needed to install k3b as I had problems with xfburn.

There always seems to be one or two killer apps on other desktops which I can't live without.

I think this http://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=5437 may have what you're looking for.
