I recently updated the software on my computer, and now it won't boot. It boots as far as:

* Stopping System V runlevel compatibility [ OK ]And then freezes. I can still access a terminal with alt+f1, but I don't know how to do much there.

I've read a few other threads about people having the same problem, but none of the solutions worked for me.

Hello,

I can't really help but your title of the thread or what you have written does not give much information for those to give an opinion on. What software did you upgrade? What happened when you upgraded? Was this a program or the OS? Just some thoughts to make it easier for those out there to help you.

Can you get into a GRUB menu if you hold down a SHIFT key?

IF so, then choose the option to Repair Broken Packages.

If it goes to completion OK, then choose the option for Normal Boot.

That should work.
