Hello all. I am looking for a way to control a switch with bluetooth using kubuntu/ubuntu. The idea is what when the proper input is given to the laptop, a separate piece of hardware will receive a bluetooth signal and trigger a switch which will open a small door.

But it all boils down to button a is pressed on laptop, door a opens on shelf. It has been asked of me that this be done with Linux and I would like to get some input from more experienced programers and users as to how to go about this.

Any advice or ideas? Thanks.

Any advice or ideas? Thanks.First you need some hardware like this: http://www.flexipanel.com/Docs/BlueControl%20DS375.pdf but you would need some more information about the protocol used.

Then you can read this: http://people.csail.mit.edu/albert/bluez-intro/
