View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 11.10 - Intel HD 3000 - HDMI Out - resolution and overscan issues

I have a Dell Inspire laptop with Intel i5 and an Intel HD 3000 graphics chip. I am trying to hook it up to a 1080p TV using HDMI. I have two problems:
- It identifies the TV incorrectly - the TV is a Mitsubishi, but it identifies the TV as an Onkyo
- It shows the max resolution as 720p - although the TV is 1080p capable
- It has high overscan
Is there any way to fix these problems?

The same laptop in Windows 7 detects the TV correctly, can use 1080p without any problem, and I can use Intel's software to correct the overscan.

Thanks in advance!

Having a similar problem with Ubuntu 11.10 showing a Vizio 1080p as Unknown. I've just started looking for a fix of some kind. If I find one I'll post it here.
