Hello everyone. I've recently installed Oneiric on an Acer 5742-6874, and only the left speaker is working—the right on-board speaker is not producing sound.

Both left and right speakers work when I have it set to HDMI out and run it through my TV; ditto my computer monitor. Also, both left and right headphones work when I have a set plugged in.
Finally, just before installing Ubuntu, the on-board speakers worked in Windows 7.
How do I go about diagnosing why the right speaker isn't working? More importantly, how do I fix it?
Cheers!

Okay, I've researched a little further and discovered that the laptop only has an integrated mono speaker (which is weird). See here (https://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2010/Acer/Aspire/Aspire5742/Aspire5742sp2.shtml)or here (http://laptops-specs.blogspot.com/2010/09/acer-aspire-5742-specifications.html).
My question now is, is there a way to make a dual-channel signal (YouTube, music from banshee, etc.) come out of a mono system? Particularly without screwing up my HDMI out and headphones—which are both stereo?
Cheers!
