testing MIC

I wonder if there is a software that I can use to test and detect the mic easily like using cheese to test the webcam. Thanks.

That records from the sound card, not the mic apparently. I know I have a mic and it works (since I use Skype and googletalk) but sound recorder doesn't record anything.

you might have to change an option in sound preferences. under the hardware tab.

from sound recorder you might have to change the record from input option too.
