I want to install Kubuntu and Ubuntu in my old laptop:
GATEWAY LAPTOP
PIII 450Mhz RAM:320MB HDD:30GB
WIN98SE
MFG DATE: 23-12-1999
As of 01NOV2011: USED:10.9GB, FREE:16.9GB

well,
First I must try Kubuntu and Ubuntu differ versions for the best for me?
11.10 /e run on my machine above?
After boot-ubuntu and install from Live CDROM (this is faster method? faster than no linux boot, but install in windows?) default boot OS how setup, this may changed?
Mouse, Printer, Wifi adapter etc devices that driver exist only foe win/mac may used in ubuntu/kubuntu?
In the latter [Wifi adapter] how configure wifi connection? must recognized first? what option in 11.10?

On such a computer you should install Lubuntu. Windows 98 is a major security hole, so I recommend that you delete the entire hard drive while installing (after a backup of your user files, of course).

Remember to have wired internet access.

After Lubuntu runs we can take a look at the other questions.

what about ubuntu 9.04 or 10.04 along[coexist with] Lubuntu 11.10? the main ubuntu drawback is security ONLY?

why not wifi?

asyour hardware is limited, forget about compiz/unity, so better to stay with Lucid which is LTS

Wifi comes at a later step. During installation you should have wired internet access.

Any version of Ubuntu and Kubuntu would not run well on your laptop, not even Xubuntu would run well. I would recommend Lubuntu or Debian.
