Vlc music player installation in ubuntu 11.04

My Laptop model: Dell N4110

I have just installed Ubuntu 11.10 and tried to install vlc music player but it shows alert "Failed to download repository information, check your Internet connection ". But Internet is connected. what should I do????

Did you use Software Centre, Synaptic, or some other method to try to install VLC? What location are you connected to for software? Have you tried again? (Sometimes a server goes down briefly.)

Maybe these postings will help. You will need to change the references
to lucid (10.04) to your version as needed in the commands.
