A *very* short article here (http://blogs.zdnet.com/Burnette/index.php?p=124) about the probability that google earth will not be another WINE app, but a native GNU/Linux port.

Actually, the article is about Picassa, but it mentions Earth.

Anyway, that's kind of neat. I was one of the people that was totally unimpressed with their "port" of Picassa. Not that I ever had the urge to run it.

Direct link to Google's statement in its FAQ: http://picasa.google.com/linux/faq.html#24

That's cool. Judging software without ever using it, though, is uncool.

I would have to slightly agree with OP about "judging software without using it" in the sense that their "linux port" is just a special version of wine to run the window's version.

In term's of the actual quality of the software, I couldn't comment though, having never used it.
