I have been a user of centos since 2007. I recently tried to go with the new version, 6, however redhat is purposely trying to destroy the clones....begun the clone wars have.
Since it is a new computer, I am seriously considering going ubuntu server for my websites, both as the virtual host in a KVM and as guest OSes on that host.
I appreciate the centos team and what they do, but redhat really is at war with the clones now, not a good place for my server to be.
Redhat, if I was to go by their pricing, would cost me 2,000 a year because I have 2 sockets and will be hosting more than 4 guests. All are family sites and only one is slightly commercial.
Oh, and to get the full virtualization package that is about 4,000 for the year too...so 6,000 for one server for one year...
insanity. And that 6,000 includes 48 hour email support only..lol
So, hear I am.
Not sure which forum category is just a general forum, so I went here first.
I was in the middle of doing videos highlighting the build of my server and centos6 and finally realized the possible futility of that. Tonight I am downloading and going to try to make the move.
Just wanted to say Hi.
I will be posting a lot and making videos of the install process.
I do not want to add a url as they might interpret this as spam, and right now no ubuntu stuff is up there. On youtube you can just look for my channel webservervideos. I have one more to post with the redhat/centos6 install and will leave them up there. The next video will be the ubuntu install.
now to find good books on ubuntu server.....
