I am running version 11.10 on an AMD quad core laptop with 8GB memory and a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 graphics chip. I have gotten gnome shell installed and it works for the most part except when I run VMPlayer. The X server tends to hang on a regular basis. Anyone have any ideas? I can use ALT-F1 and sign in and kill /usr/bin/X and everything works then (I also use vmrun to shutdown my Windows 7 machine). Anyone give me some tips? Thanks...
