I would like to install Oracle's Java -> http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?locale=en

and I'm unsure as to which one(s) to download. I am running Ubuntu 11.10 x64, any help would greatly be appreciated, thank you.

EDIT: Out of the Linux section I mean.

Java is--(may be) available from Software Center, just type java in the search. It will install it for you.

I visited the link and found if I clicked on 'instructions', it explained how to install. Maybe you can choose your preferred install from there.

EDIT: I'm not on my 11.10 ATM so am not sure, but 11.04 "ubuntu restricted extras" also include java in Synaptic. You'd need to install Synaptic from Software Center if the "extra' package isn't in SCenter.

I understand that, but that's not the Java I want: I want Oracle's Java.

Oracle's Java you need for 64 bit 11.10 would be Linux x64 * filesize: 20.2 MB found here (http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp?locale=en). I found this (http://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxtipsproject/java) install method the best for me but others are out there. :)

Thank you very much! I've followed that tutorial and have successfully installed Oracle's Java 6 Update 29 :popcorn:

Thank you too Critin.
