brcm 14e4:4727

I am trying to install brcm 14e4:4727 on my laptop. I have installed the third party driver which comes with ubuntu but it did not work. Also, I have installed it from http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php. But also did not work.

I have found this link

which stated that this driver is not supported with b43 please have a look on the table

Also it states, that brcm80211 can be used - http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/brcm80211

I found the library 'brcm80211' already in /lib/firmware/brcm

what are the next steps I need to do ?

What version of Ubuntu are you using? You have the BCM 4313 wireless card which works out of the box in Ubuntu 11.04 and 11.10 with the default open source driver. This is referred to as brcm80211 in 11.04 and brcmsmac in 11.10.

If you have tried to install the proprietary driver you have probably managed to blacklist the open source driver which is why it is not now working. If you want help unblacklisting it, post back with the output of:


ls -l /etc/modprobe.d
