I have recently installed Ubuntu 11.04 on several remote servers and they all seem to suffer from the same plague:
1) Sometimes they forget their network connection settings i.e. a fixed ip-, dns- and router setting is replaced by automatic DHCP.
2) They frequently forget the keyboard layout.
Of these number one is the most serious for a remote server. What can be the reason for this behaviour and what can I do to ascertain that the network connection settings remain carved in stone?
