how do u upgrade RAM?

Look at the specs for your motherboard and find out what type of memory you have, ie, ddr2 or ddr3 and find out what the max speed is for you MB, also find out how may memory slot you have and what the max capacity is in gigs, then buy memory from Tiger Direct or Newegg and change it out. You can read all about this stuff using google search.

Even if you have and empty slot, I would change out the old unless you can match it down to the manufacturer. Seen to many caught with this. :)

Yup, good idea, dual channel memory needs to be matched up.

When I change RAM the first thing I do after the technical side is complete is boot up the machine with a liveCD and run memtest. I usually let it run all its tests, even if it takes hours. I found this to be the best way to recognize incompatibilities or damaged RAM.
