So I want to replace 11.10 Grub with the 10.04 or 10.10 version of grub. The reason being is that the newer version of Grub does not display well on my computer, it says not optimal screen resolution. I'm preety sure the problem is Grub, because when I installed 11.04 the problem started and it continued in 11.10. However when I installed 10.04 along side 11.10 just to see if it was grub, and everything displayed perfectly. The Not optimal scree resolution screen went away. I did a fresh install of 11.10 and the problem is how. How can i replace grub with an older version.

Check out GRUB 2 (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2) in the help documentation. Once there go down to 'GRUB 2 Prompt Usage'. Likely you will have to set the gfxmode to what it should be.
