Some time back, I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy) where everything work flawlessly to Ubuntu 10.04 (Lynx) and had printer problems. I was not successful in getting these fixed.
More recently, my primary workstation failed -- not a simple component, like a hard drive, but rather some more involved failure that would cause the symptom to change at every corner, possibly a fault on the motherboard. I replaced the box with a dual core 64-bit machine and downloaded the appropriate software for installation.
After the basic install and customization, I went to work on printing. Reading posts and exploring, I was able to get the PDF printer function working. My laser printer is directly connected to this machine and works in Office with no problem, but can't seen to be found when I want to print from Firefox or document viewer.
Does anyone have a clue what I may be failing to do to get full access to the printer?
