If you are on a laptop I really recommend not upgrading from 11.04 to 11.10 yet (both ubuntu and kubuntu, I tried both) I'm left with a crippled system:

* Mouse pointer can't move over entire screen; is stuck in area at top left
* Right mouse button doesn't work
* Pressing mouse button and dragging at the same time doesn't work
* Sound doesn't mute when earphone is connected
* Color management for screen I installed from gnome is gone

Well I'm off back to 11.04 or maybe 10.04 lts. I did file some bug reports.....

dont have seen such issues, might be due either:
- your laptop model
- old settings conflicts (try gconf-cleaner, bleachbit)
- system been dist-upgraded several times (do a fresh install)

note: googling around your laptop model + oneiric might let you know if other users have the same issues.

working on a fresh install now, and: repartitioning to allow 2 versions of the distro in parallel.....
