ubuntu desktop or server, or kubuntu, all 11.10, the iso file to create a CD or USB Stick, are the same, only procedure creating differs?

No, the desktops are different and the ISO is not large enough to hold all the configurations.

The server uses a text base install and is not a liveCD and does not include as default any desktop. And it has many additional server packages. But you can install all the server applications in any install or any desktop in the server install if you want.

the UBUNTU DESKTOP iso file to create a CD IS THE SAME AS to create a USB Stick, only procedure creating differs? THESE USB STICKS AND CDS RUN ON ANY PLATFORM MAC, PC, UNIX, LINUX?

The installer to the USB has to convert/extract it but the ISO is the same software for CD or USB.

Any computer that can boot a USB port can use the USB install, but I thought Macs do not let you boot USB ports?
