I am after a appointment reminder for Lubuntu.

I wish to be reminded the day before and again on the day of the appointment,

Osmo comes with Lubuntu, however in my search for help I have seen many people saying it does not work well.

I tried qtodo but it only works in minutes, not days and months.

Lubuntu comes with Chromium and I use Claws Email.

Any suggestions for a good dependable appointment reminder package for Lubuntu ?

Thanks, Rodney.

Orage lets you set up appointments in your calendar, though I don't know if the alarm works quite the way you want (it does have some interesting recurrence options).

Install Thunderbird + Lightning plugin, there you go. You will get functionality better then MS Outlook.

Since you use Claws Mail you could use Sunbird, which makes more sense
than installing TB+Lightning.

Thank You, Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/calendar/sunbird/) looks good, this also gave me the hint to see if Claws mail had something similar, it does .

Claws has a plugin called vCalendar (http://www.claws-mail.org/plugin.php?plugin=vcalendar), mostly meant for meetings but has alarms.

So I will trial both.

Thank you everyone for your hints and help.
