View Full Version : [ubuntu] 11.10 frequent mouse hanging

October 29th, 2011, 04:08 AM
I have installed 11.10 . I do not know the reason but after 15 min or so after boot , the mouse becomes inoperable ..I use the touch pad in my laptop. The system actually running , in the sense I am able to run commands in terminal.

Then I do "unity --replace" and restart ..

But still the problem is there ..

Should I install any additional driver for touchpad ??

I have installed 11.10 on 3 systems (desktop, netbook and laptop).

I saw this behavior only on the HP laptop. In my case it happened when the update manager ran (until I got caught up on the updates, then that stopped it hanging there).

I hung one more time when running 'software center', but just the once.

To un-stick the mouse it, I used CNTL-ALT-DEL and logged out and back in.

So far it has not occurred again, but the HP laptop has only been on 11.10 for one day.

If you have not completed all your updates for 11.10, please do so and let us know if that helps at all.

I've had a similar problem a few times. Unplugging and replugging the mouse did not help but plugging in a second mouse got the mouse moving again. That's not a real fix for the problem but it has not happened often for me.

Has this been solved? This happens to me all the time!
