I downloaded Ubuntu 11.10 yesterday, and the icon that displays how much battery power my laptop has left is missing. How do I fix this?
Thanks

Does the luminosity of the screen decrease when you are on battery or it stays the same level ? Anyway, open from the Dash Power program, and check if you have the battery settings there.

The power application doesn't include the power monitor.

What I was trying to understand (in an easy way) was that if your system found the correct hardware ACPI to monitor the power/battery status. Does the luminosity fall down when you disconnect the power and run on battery ?

EDIT: sorry, wrong command. I will try to see if I find one.

No the luminosity of the screen does not decline when I switch to battery power.

Then definitely the hardware is not recognized properly. What version of Ubuntu are you using ? 11.10 32 bits ? (you can check the exact version/bits in System Monitor).
