To be fair I dont think thats too bad considering how much buzzing power-hungry electrical equipment keeps the web going, also take into consideration because of the net people are travelling less by using conferencing, email and VOIP so making huge savings in carbon that way.

But still it could be better, I am a big advocate of mini-itx and SSD technology both make major power savings. Also companies could start replacing in-effecient desktop PCs with thin-clients or laptops, in fact take-home laptops could even replace a big home desktop PC for personal use.

You'd think it would be higher when you look inside a datacenter and all their server rooms with racks upon racks of servers running 24/7 with a heavy air conditioning system running 24/7 also.
