View Full Version : [ubuntu] can't recover from black screensaver in 11.10

Just upgraded from 11.04 to 11.10 on a Dell X1 laptop. Admittedly, on 11.04 I immediately switched from Unity back to Gnome. But with 11.10, I thought I'd give Unity a try.

I don't have a black/dark screen at boot or install like some users report. But when the screen saver times out, the screen dims to black. Problem is I can't get the light to turn back on by using any keystroke. I can use the brightness keys to run the brightness back up, but I'm used to just an <enter> key turning the screen back on.

Setting the screen to "turn off after: Never" will keep me lit. But there must be something I don't understand about recovering from screen-saver mode.

Thanks...

confirm the problem with my note asusUL30.
The bypass found - bring notebook to sleep mode by a key combination, then - to awake it normally.

background: 11.10 upgraded from 11.04.
To be true I was horrified with the number of bugs I got with 11.10. This shouldn't be no way the OS release.. pity..
