A friend of our community (dixiedancer) passed away today. Robin was a regular on several forums i've been a part of and i always enjoyed his comments and feedback in those places and on my blogs. I will miss having him around.

A post by his father announcing his passing can be read at his blog http://robinsrantsandraves.wordpress.com/

It's very sad to hear about his passing. Rest in peace, Robin.

Wondering how he died so quickly. One day he's posting at his blog, next day he's in a medically-induced coma, next day he's gone. Sad. They say tomorrow's not promised to anyone.

It's always sad to hear of someone young passing away.

He was passionate about Xubuntu as is easy to tell, I don't know if he was as passionate about other things in his life, but I suspect he was.

I'm sure he'll leave a large hole in his parent's life.

That's so sad to read :( Really strange, I regularly read that blog up until a few weeks ago. Liked his writings about Xubuntu and how to help newbies with Linux. And now this...

Rest In Peace.

Very sad news indeed :( I enjoyed Robin's writings, both here and on his blog. He was very passionate and it saddens me to see him go. He was a great person, and I'm sure if he could see this thread he would be happy to know how much the people thought of him. I find it bothersome that he passed at such a young age, but inspiring that he did not seem to see it as so bothersome. To accept the end of one's life with grace is quite a feat in itself, to do it so early is even more so.

RIP, Robin.

May I ask how old is he?

If I recall his blog correctly, he was a little over eighteen. Onset of puberty hormones, though late, triggered some genetic abnormalities and the doctors could not stop the deterioration.

Enjoy dancing with the angels, Robin, farewell.

Man, sad to hear. I certainly enjoyed some of Robin's blog posts, especially his "How I Discovered Linux" (http://robinsrantsandraves.wordpress.com/2011/07/14/how-i-discovered-linux/)one.

May he rest in peace.

Most people associate the name Robin and the art of dance with the female sex. According to Wikipedia, it can be used for both, (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Robin_(name)) and in my own experiences, there are many males named Robin (for example, the comedian Robin Williams.)

On-topic: Upon reading his forum posts and blogs, it is obvious he was very passionate about three things: not in any particular order, he was passionate Linux, dance and religion. Wherever his beliefs take him, hopefully it will let him enjoy the things he loved the most beyond death. In closing, may his enthusiasm live on forevermore.

Sad news. :(

I never knew Robin terribly well, but from the posts I've seen, he was always very polite, and was well-liked by the UF community. It's sad to see him go.

I had no idea he was battling a terminal illness. My heart goes out to his family.

I never communicated with him personally. But reading his posts and blog, I made him one of my ideals to follow. So much passion and talent in so little age! This thread shocked me to the core of my heart and soul..!! I wish I could meet his parents this very moment.

Being one of my few real world ideals, I think I am going to miss him a lot.. for a long time..
Rest in peace Robin!

He sounds like a nice guy. I'm reading his blog right now as I type this.

How old was he, might I ask? I haven't seen anything confirming his age, and I'd like to know, if at all possible.

I'm sorry that he's gone though. I wish I would've had the chance to communicate with him.

According to a fairly recent blogpost he just turned 18 (he wrote about officially being an adult).

Never a good thing to read about someone so full of life to suddenly slip away. I went to his blog from time to time and knew this day was coming but hoped what I was reading was somehow fiction.

Your in the hands of angels now Dixie Dancer, you are free.

Wow... I'm so sorry to hear this. Robin was one of the best teenage users this forum has ever witnessed. He always had a nice, polite touch to his posts, which is rare for someone of his age.

What saddens me most is that he passed away at a very young age (18 ) - way too soon :(. Too many people that age are taking this fragile thing called life for granted.

R.I.P, Robin. I'll never forget you or your posts.

Wow, that's another eye opener for me. He wasn't any older than me. I'm 18. It's sad how fast life can end, especially the life of someone like himself. He seemed too kind to deserve that.
