So I have three hard drives, a 2Tb, and 2 250Gb. I am a linux user but I want to install windows as well to run a few scientific programs that surprisingly are not native to unix (and I hate wine).

My question is thus: Do I want to install windows on 1 HDD and linux on the other, leaving the 2TB for just files, or do I use one HDD for both operating systems? I want to be able to access the files from both operating systems. Anyone who has done something similar and has a nice setup for partitions and methods? I have never dual booted, just switched from windows so my knowledge of this is limited. Any help is appreciated. Screen shots of partition tables would be even lovelier as I am a visual person.

Also a side question, I am currently running 11.04 and like it, and I hear that the new upgrades are a no-go for people like me. What are your opinions on the new upgrades? Should I wait until the bugs are fixed and just stay with 11.04?

Also general dual booting discussions welcome.

3 hard drives, 2 OS, 1 question and 0 answer... That was a joke ;)
Read a help (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot).
Windows can browse linux partitions/HDD (http://www.ubuntugeek.com/tools-to-access-linux-partitions-from-windows.html).
IMHO for windows create a not big partition, with 10 -15 GB. Then format as NTFS, install windows and repair boot/reinstall linux.
