OK, maybe my hobbyhorse of "death by over-engineering" is a bit old-fogieish, but really, given the update experience to 11.10, I feel righteously justified.
The update went reasonably well - a couple of fixable glitches - but no big issues.
But - Gnome and KDE seem to be borked, stuff that was simple is now complicated (Mouse Click City, Arizona) - and as for Unity, give me strength FFS!!
My main use is remote access with NX - this too is stuffed. The only session which works is KDE, which looks dreadful.
I installed xfce to restore some sort of normality, which is better. I can now access all my applications with a single mouse click, instead of 4 + scrolling with KDE.
Given time, I'm going to go back to 11.04.
