I am going to try to learn unity, I bought a macbook and saw no need to use ubuntu(especially after unity came out it put me off), but the reason I love ubuntu is the new experience. So I'm trying to work with unity, but the one thing i can't stan is when you press the zoom button(the middle one) in the title bar It maximizes and hides the launcher on the left! I like to multitask and sometimes forget what i'm doing, so I need to be able to see whats open and what not. Does anybody know how to:
1) Disable the autohide of the launcher

2) Disable how the zoom button maximizes

Im running Ubuntu 11.10 x64 on a 13" macbook pro

Well, it's not a zoom button, but a maximize button, so that can't be changed. You're not running OSX. = )

The launcher autohide can be changed in compizconfig-settings-manager. Look it up in the Software Center, and then launch it from the Dash once you have it installed. You can probably just search for "ccsm" both places. Once you open it up, find the Ubuntu Unity plugin and change the Hide Launcher behavior to Never.
