Hello,
I just installed Ubuntu 11.04 from a CD on a new USB 2.0 external hard drive following the instructions provided by http://www.linuxbsdos.com/2011/05/23/install-ubuntu-11-04-on-external-hard-disk/ The CD was created using a download from the Ubuntu site.
When I restart my laptop, which normally runs Windows XP, Windows XP boots as usual. And when I look in My Computer from within Windows, the external hard drive isn't shown. It's as if I had done nothing and had no external hard drive. Can you offer any guidance as to how to boot Ubuntu from my external hard drive?
I did look around fora to see if someone else had this or a similar problem, and there were several posts on the subject; but honestly, I'm brand new to this, and it was not clear to me how to proceed. I did note that generation of a "RESULTS.txt" file was usually involved, so I produced that file for my system, and have attached it below.
Regards,
James
