I am running Ubuntu 10.04.
I just updated xserver-xorg-core and xserver-common to 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.10.
But when I am booting the computer the screen goes black before the Ubuntu logo is displayed.
I think it has something to do with the proprietary drivers from AMD i have installed for the graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5550).
How do you proceed? Ctrl + Alt + F1 does not work.
How do you turn off the computer and how do you solve the problem?
The drivers there downloaded from AMD (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/linux/Pages/radeon_linux.aspx?type=2.4.1&product=2.4.1.3.42&lang=English).
I managed to start the computer and installed the drivers suggested by System->Administrarion->Hardware Drivers.
But after reboot I have a watermark in the right corner: "Unsupported hardware".
But the drivers seems to work.
Maybe this is better if I only could get rid of the annoying water mark.
Sorry. This is probably not the correct category.
