So I'm a Newbie - But Surely This Aient Right? Ubuntu 10.10

Hey,

So.. I'm new to ubuntu and just switched my os from vista to ubuntu 10.10 on my spare laptop.

However it doesn't start up without the ethernet cable being plugged into the laptop... surely this cant be right? It doesnt past the bootscreen and sometimes it just remains black..

Any help?

Hi Andy, hard to know what the problem is without more detail. What do your log files say ie /var/log/message ?
