I successfully updated my 2008 model Dell Vostro (Inspiron) 1700 laptop to Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) earlier this year. I recently tried to update to Ubuntu 11.10 with no success. So I decided to return to 11.04. This time I performed a clean install (no update).
The multimedia keys (buttons) on the front of my laptop no longer work. I must have wiped out something during the clean install. (They worked under 11.04 earlier when it was an "update" installation.)
Any idea what I need to install or configure to restore this functionality? If I've posted to the wrong forum category please point me to the correct group.
Thanks!
