View Full Version : [ubuntu] Install alongside existing Ubuntu

Dear all,
after my last bad experiences with the upgrades I have decided
to try Ubuntu 11.10 installing it alongside my existing installation (11.10 broken after the upgrade...).
My idea is that if I like the new OS and find it stable, I'll move all the
data and the relevant configuration files (like my custom .bashrc, .vimrc and so on).
I'd like to know a couple of things though.
Is there a way to load my ~/Documents partition in the broken distro
in the new brand Ubuntu 11.10? If so, how can I make this change permanent when I decide to use 11.10 alone?
Also, when I decide to abandon 11.04 how can I safely remove it
and resize the partition?
Will I need to reconfigure Grub2?

Thanks a lot for your help in advance,
have a nice day :)
Luca
